Fritz Kubitz
Presented by Guild of Boston Artists
Frederick “Fritz” Kubitz, who works in both oil and watercolor, is an artist who paints in a bold, vigorous personal style. He displays in his paintings an imaginative use of natural lighting that translates into a luminescent quality. By the use of fresh colors, glazes and precise brush strokes, he shows his virtuosity and mastery of his chosen mediums. He invites the viewer to look into his world and observe impressions of traditional New England subjects. Trained as an architect, he has a keen eye for detail and knowledge of structure that is evident in his rendering of historic buildings. Fritz was one of the designers of the TWA terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport, in New York. He is especially interested in painting scenes of Boston and its historic places. His compositions are dramatic and create an emotional mood; painting realistically to communicate visually what is on his mind. The themes of his paintings cover a wide range of topics featuring Maine Harbors, Cape Cod Dunes, Vermont Countryside, New Hampshire Ski Trails, Boston Cityscapes and many other scenes from his travels around the U.S. and Europe. Fritz believes it is essential to the painting process to work on location; to extract the essence of a scene while present and later develop these studies into major paintings in his studio. Fritz is the recipient of many prizes and awards attesting to the excellence of his work. His paintings have been included in the American Watercolor’s nationwide tour of museums and places of exhibition and his painting “Center Harbor, New Hampshire” was published on the cover of Yankee Magazine. His work appears in the collections of the Ford Motor Company, Western Electric, New England Mutual Ins. Co., Former Shawmut Bank, Fleet Bank, Verizon, Maryland Bank of No. America, Fidelity Corp., Liberty Mutual Group-Boston, Marriott Hotels, Harvey Industries, The Cabot Corp., Sullivan & Worcester Attys., Town of Wellesley, MA, Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Co.Frederick Kubitz AWS is a member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the American Watercolor Society, American Society of Marine Artists, the New England Watercolor Society, the Rockport Art Association, and the Wellesley Society of Artists.
