Caffè Sospeso the first New York solo exhibition by internationally recognized artist Tatjana Krizmanic.

Inspired by the Neapolitan tradition of caffè sospeso—leaving a cup of coffee paid for in advance so a stranger might be quietly uplifted—Krizmanic transforms this simple gesture of generosity into a visual language of empathy, intimacy, and shared human experience.

Rooted in Post-Impressionist color and Expressionist gesture, Krizmanic’s figurative paintings inhabit the space between tradition and immediacy. Still lifes, interiors, and scenes of human presence unfold as lyrical offerings—moments suspended, waiting to be received. Each canvas becomes a small act of giving, distilling the fleeting into something lasting, and the personal into something universal.

“Painting, for me, is an act of generosity,” says Krizmanic. “Like a sospeso, each work carries the hope that it will brighten someone’s day, connect them to a memory, or simply remind them of beauty.”
