Spectrum Gallery and Store of Centerbrook presents the Summer Arts Festival Group Gallery Show, a six-week exhibit (May 27-July 10) of select works by artists participating in the upcoming and first annual Summer Arts and Crafts Festival on the Essex Connecticut Town Green. A mixture of painting – both representational and abstract – as well as mixed media and photography is included. There are multiple artists presenting for the first time at Spectrum, as well as several who have presented in exhibits since the Gallery’s inception in the Spring of 2014. Opening Reception for the show is Friday, May 27 (6:30-9 pm) at the Gallery, 61 Main Street, Centerbrook, CT.
First-time artists at Spectrum include Sarah Grote, a lifestyle and nature photographer specializing in scenic vistas, unique portraiture, and animal and event photography. Also new to Spectrum are abstract painter Ty Davis, and landscape painter Alyssa Ingram, photographer Faith Bilansky, and several fine artisans including wood artist Linda Rizzuto, potter Jane Novick, glass artisan Maryann Flick, among others. Several returning to Spectrum to exhibit their newest work include painters Amy White and Christine Miller, painter and photographer Ursula Coccomo, photographers Larry Reitz, Robert Thomas and Brian Lee, as well as many fine artisans including ceramicist and sculptor Monica Hewryk, and fine jewelry designers Laise Clayton and Bruce and Gail Barton.
The Spectrum Group show is a concurrent exhibition by artists also in the Arts Center Killingworth’s first Annual Summer Arts Festival (June 18-19) located on the Town Green of Essex. Known as the “Best Small Town in America,” Essex offers a vibrant and growing art scene, fine restaurants and charming marina. Entrance to both the Summer Arts Festival and Gallery Group Show is free and includes food and live music.
Spectrum, an expansion of the nonprofit Arts Center Killingworth, is a contemporary, light-filled space that showcases regional and national artists and artisans, both emerging and established. In addition to painting, sculpture and photography, the Gallery includes a Store which offers fine crafts in diverse mediums such as fabric, glass, ceramics, paper, pottery, jewelry, wood and more. Since its launch, Spectrum has presented numerous exhibits including the most recent show Text Messages, All Natural, The Human Form, and Collage-It’s An Adventure! Gallery hours are Wednesday-Friday (11am-6pm); Saturday (11:30-6pm) and Sunday (11:30am-5pm).
The Arts Center Killingworth, founded in 2004, organizes exhibits and concerts, and offers classes, camps and workshops for children, teens and adults.
