Each September Historic Fort Worth, Inc. celebrates the connection between art and architecture through the talent of studio artists at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.

The 2019 honoree is Gene Owens, a talented sculpture artist who received a B.A. from Texas Wesleyan University and an M.A. from the University of Georgia. Mr. Owens’ sculpture has been commissioned and exhibited by numerous individuals and institutions. He drew inspiration from his association with the Fort Worth Circle, a talented group of artists who painted, sculpted and traveled together from 1940-1960.

The 2019 featured artist is Devon Nowlin, who speaks of her paintings as layered, not only in terms of the application of paint, but also in regard to overlapping forms and

pictorial elements that seemingly appear and disappear across the surface of a canvas.

Alison Hearst, Associate Curator of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, will select the 2019 artist award winners.

Over 60 artists, with over 350 artworks, look forward to seeing you on September 5th!
