Member-Guest Show
Gallery on the Green
Mar. 16, 2024 - Apr. 15, 2018
The main floor of the gallery features newly created work by artist members and invited guest artists. Come see the creativity and talent of diverse local artists in an intimate and historical exhibition space. On view are prints, drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures and ceramics.
In her solo photo exhibit, “Here a mannequin, there a mannequin,” Arlene Johnson captures store window mannequins from an angle that lets us see the outside world as it might appear to these Barbie-like idealized females. Johnson leads us to ponder what they might do at night as we sleep: “Maybe they dream of walking down the streets of New York or getting an apartment across the street, grabbing a cab to parts unknown.” Johnson has a BFA from Hartford Art School with an emphasis on documentary photography. She has exhibited at galleries throughout Connecticut.
Kevin Cusick Dix has a solo exhibition entitled,“Cutouts.” His show features colorful abstracted works on paper inspired by compositions that Matisse completed toward the end of his life.
The opening reception for all three shows is Saturday, March 17th from 6:00-9:00 pm. The reception including refreshments is free, and the public is warmly invited.
