George Shipperley: Visions of Landscapes and Still Lifes, Surface, and In the Cooler: Jessica Calderwood – Fictitious Florals

Opening Reception Friday, June 5th, 5pm-9pm; open to the public.

George Shipperley: Visions of Landscapes and Still Lifes
Aurora, Illinois based pastel artist George Shipperley offers up new works demonstrating his ability to translate the world around him into paintings that are emotional yet subtle and sophisticated. Shipperley, whose inspiration is drawn from both nature and impressionism, carries the viewer beyond the painted surface and into his imagined landscapes. He is the first awarded signature member of the Oil Pastel Society, a title that is well earned given his understanding of originality, color, and the environment.

Surface
Surface exhibits the overall idea and practice of texture and pattern that occurs through out a range of works. Artists include Susan Burden, Rick Hintze, Alex Mandli, Marlene Miller, Rachelle Miller, Barry Newstat, John Ribble, Patricia Sannit, and Tom Sargeant

IN THE COOLER: Jessica Calderwood – Fictitious Florals
Calderwood will exhibit her most recent series of mixed media works that combine botanical forms with fragments of the human body in order to address the absurdities of contemporary life. The installation will include pieces that were made possible by a recent residency through the John Michael Kohler Arts/Industry Program.
