Alex Mandli’s saggar fired vessels have a soft smoky surface which perfectly compliment the gestural elegance and muted palette found in the plein air paintings of Diane Washa. Washa’s newest work focus on the harmony and grace found in Wisconsin’s watersheds. Mandli’s work reflects over thirty years of experience and skill with the saggar fire process. He creates an environment of combustible materials that use fire as a painter uses a brush.
