The Eighth Annual Art in the Windows exhibition will open on May 30th and last until June 14th. The display, which is organized by the Carriage Barn Arts Center (the home of the New Canaan Society for the Arts) and the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce (NCCC), will feature 63 local artists in 72 New Canaan store windows. This exhibition showcases paintings, drawings, prints, photography, mixed media, and sculpture by local artists from Connecticut and New York. All of the works will be for sale. The purpose of the exhibit is to promote artistic talent in the town center while increasing customer sales for merchants. This collaboration exemplifies the power of partnership between artists, merchants and non-profits (NCSA and NCCC). The event will be kicked off with Pop Up ART DAY! on Saturday, May 30th, 12 – 3 pm. Local artists will be working “en Plein Air” and there will be free art activities for children in the downtown Pop Up Park. Walter Stewart’s Market will be serving complimentary beverages and snacks. This exhibition and Pop Up ART DAY! is sponsored by Karl Chevrolet, Walter Stewart’s Market, Gen Re, the Kiwanis Club of New Canaan, the Newcomers Club, and the Rotary Club of New Canaan.

The mission of the New Canaan Society for the Arts, Inc. is to promote the visual and performing arts, and to enrich the community through exhibitions, education, and cultural experiences, and to operate the Carriage Barn Arts Center. The Carriage Barn Arts Center offers artists opportunities to exhibit their work in an exceptional gallery space in a unique nineteenth-century stone barn. Exhibitions, lectures, educational workshops, concerts and other events are held in this adaptively reused historical building on the grounds of a former estate, now Waveny Park. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday 10 am – 3 pm, Sunday 1 – 5 pm. For further information please call the Carriage Barn Arts Center at 203.972.1895 or visit www.carriagebarn.org.
