Learn the basic techniques of Nuno felting. (“Nuno” is Japanese for “Fabric”) This felting technique was developed in the early 90′s and combines wool with a loose or open weave material in order to create a light weight fabric. Students will create a beautiful scarf out of hand dyed silk chiffon, a wall hanging or unique panel of fabric that can be sewn into a bag or pillow case etc. This class requires a little elbow grease, but the end result is worth the effort! Students are required to bring 2 towels and a bamboo mat or place mat that can be rolled.

Local artisan Justine Moody is a fine art graduate from Pratt Institute. She is a fiber artist, a potter, and a painter who finds inspiration in nature, age old craft techniques, and the symbology of Native American folk art. Her work ranges from non-functional three-dimensional pieces out of wool and silk, felted twists on everyday usable items, and bohemian inspired wearable art pieces and tapestries. She teaches a variety of craft felting and clay workshops throughout Eastern Long Island.
