Why so serious!!? Blur your “norms” and your cultural perceptions of what humor is and explore art that’s funny at the Polasek Museum this fall. When so much of the medias focus is on heavy and polarizing issues let’s venture into the surreal, fantastic, ironic, and satirical world of contemporary art. Humor is a great social unifier which is only elevated to a wonderful and strange place when coupled with the creativity of modern sculpture. Tongue in Cheek is collaboration between the Polasek Museum and our community partners the Florida Sculptors’ Guild. Their members make up a diverse cross-section of different ethnic, geographic and socioeconomic viewpoints, and as such represent the color and humor of the evolving state of Florida. We also welcome ‘gut-busting’ applications by all sculptors and mediums through a national “call for artists.”
