JUROR: David Max Horowitz is Assistant Curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NYC. Since joining the Guggenheim’s curatorial department in 2015, David Max Horowitz has worked on a number of exhibitions and supported the management of the museum’s collection. He was the curator of Jean Dubuffet: Ardent Celebration at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (2022) and Marking Time: Process in Minimal Abstraction (2019&20), as well as cocurator of R. H. Quaytman + ×, Chapter 34 (2018&19). He was also part of the curatorial team on Hilma af Klint: Paintings for the Future (2018&19), Agnes Martin (2016&17), Guggenheim Collection: Brancusi (2017&20), and Guggenheim Collection: Early Modernism (2016&17). He has contributed to the catalogues published in conjunction with Alex Katz: Gathering (2022), Joan Mitchell (2021), and Hilma af Klint: Paintings for the Future. Horowitz also regularly assists in the continued care and stewardship of the collection. While most focused on the postwar period, he has conducted research on works from all parts of the museum’s holdings. He holds a BA in English language and literature from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an interdisciplinary MLA from Johns Hopkins University. He is currently pursuing an MA in art history at Hunter College.

AWARDS: Cash and other awards totaling over $2000 will be presented at the opening reception. Reception and Awards Ceremony details to be announced.

ENTRY DETAILS:

Entry open to all member and also non-members. Works are not eligible if previously accepted for one of our juried exhibitions; if they have been exhibited in the Bendheim or GAS Galleries; or if completed prior to 2021. All submitted work must be attractively and appropriately matted, framed and/or presented. All works must be for sale. If a portrait, the price of a similar commission must be stated. No PORs. The Bendheim Gallery reserves the right to final approval of the selection of artwork for the exhibition. Entry fees will not be returned if the Bendheim chooses to remove a work from eligibility for exhibition.

A non-refundable fee of $35.00 first piece entry and $25.00 for up to 2 more entries. Multiple entries from the same artist must be submitted at the same time to take advantage of the
lowered additional entry fee. Entry fees must be paid to the Greenwich Art Society at the time of entry via Entry Thingy/Pay Pal.

SIZE: Wall-hung works are limited to a 5′ foot height and 5′ width including frame. Works must be dry and wired securely for hanging.
WORKS NOT ON CANVAS MUST BE FRAMED. Freestanding sculptures are limited to 8′ in height mounted and 12′ square floor area.
Sculptors must provide bases if needed, secure small works firmly, and install difficult to handle pieces. Works not meeting these requirements will not be accepted

Accepted artwork only will be brought to the gallery for the exhibition which will be live and in person. NO SHIPMENTS OF ARTWORKS ACCEPTED. WORK MUST BE HAND DELIVERED IN PERSON.
