SPECTRUM: 26th Annual Show
Saturday, February 28 – Sunday, March 29, 2015
Entry Deadline: Thursday, January 29, 2015
EXHIBITION:
Artwork in all media, except photography, will be considered. Artists should make note of exact materials and any distinctive presentation of the artwork if applicable.
This year’s exhibition theme, Elemental Energies, focuses on the four elements, namely earth, air, fire, and water. These four elements of astrological tradition refer to the vital forces or energies that make up the universe. A tradition of representing the elements in art stems back to the Renaissance and was especially popular in the Netherlands. This system of ordering the world can be interpreted broadly. For example, Earth can be represented by landscapes, animals, plants, or works made of natural materials. Fire, the element that is used to create sculpture or glass, can categorize most three-dimensional works or be represented literally.
