Overview

The Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), in partnership with the LEDC ArtsCommittee (LAC), invites curators, independent artists/collectives, and interdisciplinary teams to submit proposals for the 2026 season at the 20*20 House, Lansdowne’s community-based gallery and art space. We are seeking proposals for group exhibitions, participatory art experiences, and socially engaged installations that align with the complexity and character of our borough and surrounding communities.

We especially welcome proposals that address social issues, elevate underrepresented voices, and invite the public into dialogue, reflection, and creative participation.Exhibitions that include interactive elements, activation events, and/or hands-on makingopportunities are highly encouraged.

About the 20*20 House

The 20*20 House is a contemporary community gallery space located in Lansdowne, PA, just six miles west of Philadelphia. Operated by the LEDC with oversight from the volunteer-led LEDC Arts Committee, the house offers a flexible, intimate venue for contemporary and community-based art exhibitions. Exhibitions and programming at the 20*20 House are always free to the public and are intended to foster connection across diverse audiences through creativity, conversation, and experimentation.

What We’re Looking For

We seek proposals for group exhibitions (solo shows will not be considered) that include at least two of the following elements:

● Engagement with social issues, particularly those relevant to Lansdowne and neighboring communities
● Participatory or interactive elements that invite public involvement
● Cross-disciplinary or cross-organizational collaborations
● Public programs, such as artist talks, academic discussions, or hands-on workshops
● Activation of underserved audiences, including youth, seniors, and residents historically excluded from gallery spaces through participatory, educational, or collaborative opportunities, subject matter, and/or exhibition designSelected exhibitions will be scheduled between January and December 2026. Exhibitions generally run on a 6-8 week timeline from the opening reception to the closing date. Installation periods may vary based on individual proposal needs.

Support Provided

● Curatorial honorarium of $700 – $1,000
● Modest budget for exhibition materials
● Additional funding available for public programs including; community classes/workshops, interdisciplinary panels, interactive and live performances, and/or collaborative activations
● Marketing support via LEDC and LAC channels
● Gallery assistance for installation and opening reception
● Access to LEDC’s broader network of Lansdowne-based non-profits, educators, and small businesses for collaborative opportunities

Submission Requirements

Your proposal should include:
1. Curatorial Statement (500 – 750 words)
○ What is the central idea or question guiding your project?
○ How does your proposal respond to community issues or invite participation?

2. Preliminary Artist List○ Include short bios and links to previous work (no more than 6–8 artists total)

3. Sample Images (5–10 works total)
○ May include proposed artist works and mock-ups as well as previous curatorial work.

4. Proposed Public Programming
○ Describe potential workshops, panels, community collaborations, etc.
