The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is pleased to announce a call for entries to the 2025 Ray and Nancy Loeschner Art Competition.

Artists who have been inspired by the gardens, grounds, and collections of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park are invited to submit original artwork and they are welcome to work on-site for inspiration. The objective is to collect high-quality artwork that celebrates the beauty and inspiration the organization provides.

There are two categories: two-dimensional art and photography. Two $5,000 purchase awards will be paid, and the two winning entries will become part of the Meijer Gardens’ permanent collection.

This competition is open to all artists ages 18 and older working in a two-dimensional format.

The permanent collection features hundreds of sculptures from internationally acclaimed artists including Magdalena Abakanowicz, El Anatsui, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Mark di Suvero, Marshall Fredericks, Henry Moore, Beverly Pepper, Jaume Plensa, Auguste Rodin, Richard Serra, Yinka Shonibare CBE, and Ai Weiwei. Changing sculpture exhibitions in the galleries have presented numerous group and solo shows, among them Jim Dine, Richard Hunt, Michele Oka Donor, George Segal, and David Smith.

The 158-acre main campus features Michigan’s largest tropical conservatory; an interactive children’s garden; arid and Victorian gardens with bronze sculptures by Edgar Degas and Auguste Rodin; a carnivorous plant house; outdoor gardens, including a replica 1930s-era farm garden; an 8- acre Japanese garden featuring contemporary sculpture; and a 1,900-seat outdoor amphitheater garden, showcasing an eclectic mix of world-renowned touring musicians each summer.
