Postcards to the Future: Mail Art Exhibition
Don Davis Park Gazebo, Newport Oregon
Entry Deadline: Jul. 1
The Coastal Arts Guild on the Central Oregon Coast invites submissions to Postcards to the Future, a mail art exhibition.
These are pivotal times. What would you want to share with future generations?
Create a postcard on theme of where we are today, where we have been, our hopes and fears for future generations—subjects can be from your personal life, family, community, the natural environment, cultural changes, science, technology, politics, art, spirituality, or…?
Postcards will be exhibited July 4-6, 2025, in the Don Davis Park gazebo in Newport, Oregon, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and in an online exhibition at postcardstothefuture.org.
After exhibition, the collection will be donated to the Lincoln County Historical Society archives, in Newport, Oregon, for future generations to discover.
Mail your 5”x7” postcard to:

Mail art must be received by July 1. Participation is free.
Sponsored by the Coastal Arts Guild. Details also at PostcardsToTheFuture.org
Size: No bigger than 5”x7”. Folded accordion or card formats OK, so long as it closes to 5”x7”. Cards will be displayed hanging so both sides will be visible. If your work turns out to be a little bit 3-dimensional, so that it may not make it through a mail processing machine, consider mailing it in an envelope. Be sure to check with the Post Office that you have the correct postage if your mail art is heavy or bulky.
Recommended media for mailing: The process of mailing gives each mail-art piece character. Still, make sure any collaged elements are glued well—things can fall off in processing (kids’ glue sticks not recommended). Likewise, soft pigments may smear. You can have your postcard hand-cancelled at the post office, which prevents it from running through a machine and also gives you a nice red stamp.
Content: No hate speech. CAG will exclude work we deem inappropriate.
Both sides of card will be displayed. Your name/return address/email/website are welcome to be included on your postcard but not required.
Artwork will not be returned.
