Call For Artists
Lansing Art Gallery seeks artists to participate in Pop Up Art: Special Edition. Five to twelve works of art by Michigan artists will be selected for inclusion in this project. Each participating artist will be granted a stipend of $100. Artists selected for demonstrations will receive an additional $400.

• Selected artworks will be professionally reproduced and installed inside the main display window of each newspaper kiosk. Each selected artist will receive a stipend of $100. The kiosk display window is horizontally oriented, and artwork may have to be cropped to fit. While the artist will retain copyright of accepted images, Lansing Art Gallery will retain ownership of the printed reproduction at the close of the exhibition.

• Selected artworks will be professionally reproduced as a limited-edition print for patrons to pick up at Lansing Art Gallery. The artist will have the opportunity to display the original work of art in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. While the artist will retain copyright of accepted images, Lansing Art Gallery will retain ownership of all limited-edition reproductions.

• 5 artists (whose artwork has been selected) will also be chosen to host a one-hour demonstration or hands-on activity at Lansing Art Gallery. Demonstrations will take place on Wednesdays, June – August 2016, during the lunch hour (12:00 – 1:00 p.m.) Demonstration days are: June 15, June 29, July 13, July 27, and August 10. These demonstrations or activities will provide participants an artful experience, showcasing creativity and increasing exposure to the arts for downtown residents, visitors and businesses. Activities must be free, appropriate for the public at large, and accessible for people with disabilities. Each selected demonstration artist will receive an additional $400 for a total stipend of $500. Artists will be responsible for all costs associated with the demonstration.

Submissions will require the following:
• 1 – 5 images of original, two-dimensional artwork – Image resolution must be at least 300 DPI, and at least 2500px on the largest side. Files should not be larger than 18MB. Appropriate formats include: jpg, png, or tif. Images should be named ex: TitleofArtwork.jpg
