As artists, we learn and draw inspiration from those who’ve come before us. This month, we’re honoring “the greats” with an online exhibition of artwork inspired by a famous artist or work of art. Channel a favorite artist and borrow their distinct style, color palette, or subject matter. Or reimagine an iconic piece of artwork and bring a legendary scene into a contemporary context. No exact reproductions, please! Open to all media (photography, painting, pastel, sculpture, and more). Please note which artist/ artwork you’ve used as your inspiration.
Artwork will be featured on our website and social media for the month of May.

Online Entry Deadline: Monday April 25, 4pm EST
Online Exhibit dates: May 6-28, 2022

Awards: Prizes awarded for first place: $150, second place: $100, third place: $75, and 3 honorable mentions. All award winners will be invited to participate in our year-end “Best of 2022” exhibit during the month of December 2022. Eligibility: Artist must be 18 years or older. Artists may submit up to two pieces of original artwork, relevant to the theme. Work must be created in the past three years and never before shown at an ALOC judged show.

Sales: The Art League of Ocean City receives a commission of thirty percent (30%) of the sale price of artwork and all sales of artwork exhibited must be processed through the Art League. Artists are responsible for making arrangements for shipping/delivery at customer’s cost.
