The City of Surprise, in conjunction with the Surprise Arts & Cultural Advisory Commission (SACAC), is seeking qualified artists to propose artwork that will serve as a centerpiece for an established seating area in the Development Center of Surprise City Hall. This seating area serves customers visiting areas of the first floor lobby to conduct business with various departments including Community Development, Utility Billing, and Public Works.

The central base of the seating area is made of printed acrylic designed to mimic water, and measures 47.5 inches in width and 95.625 inches in length, with a depth of 6 inches. All recommended subject matter must compliment the theme of water and Incorporate some vertical elements. Due to the nature of the work space where the seating area resides, the completed display must be transparent, and may not hinder staff’s ability to view the lobby area. The completed display will be adhered to the acrylic and therefore must be lightweight in nature.
