Call for Artists: Above the Clouds: Art of the Alpine
National Museum of Wildlife Art
Entry Deadline: May. 6
“Call for Artists” Juried Exhibit at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson, WY
The National Museum of Wildlife Art, located in Jackson Hole Wyoming, is looking for professional artists currently residing in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, or Colorado to submit artwork for our community exhibit, Above the Clouds: Art of the Alpine.
This bilingual (English-Spanish) exhibit is a collaboration between the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson Hole community members, and regional artists. The cold, wind-blown Alpine biome is a harrowing home to a stunning diversity of life. Flora and fauna that exist above the tree line have unique adaptations that allow them to thrive in this dynamic environment that few humans experience. Juried works from regional artists and art from local K-12 students in addition to the episode of the Museum’s Bisoncast Video series Above the Clouds, will bring the alpine to museum visitors.
Submission guidelines:
The Museum is looking for 2-D artwork or sculptural relief (i.e. collage, multi-media, fiber art, etc.) featuring flora and fauna of the Rocky Mountain Alpine. Contributing artists will offer their visions of the beauty, fragility, and resilience of Alpine mammals, birds, insects, flowers, and lichens.
Artwork will be juried by staff members and volunteers from the National Museum of Wildlife Art. All applicants will be notified of the Museum’s decision by May 20, 2021. Artists must reside in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana or Colorado.
Artwork Specifications:
• Accepted artworks must come pre-fitted with D-rings for easy installation. No picture hooks or wires. Exceptions to this are artworks that are intended not to be framed (fiber art, relief sculptures). Please contact Julia Spencer if D-rings cannot be attached to the back.
• Artworks must not exceed 36 inches (unframed) in either their length or width.
• All artwork must be delivered to and picked up from the Museum by the artist at the artist’s expense. Shipping options are available on a case-by-case basis and must be pre-approved by Julia Spencer. Shipping costs are to be covered by the artist if applicable.
