ABOUT OUR JUROR
Alise Upitis is Assistant Curator at the MIT List Visual Arts Center. For the List she has curated solo exhibitions on the work of Cyprien Gaillard, Ken Okiishi, Sonia Almeida, Helen Mirra and Ernst Karel, Pauline Curnier Jardin, and Sergei Tcherepnin, as well as the group exhibitions Image Transfer, Plastic Alphabet, and A Particular Type of Reality. Upitis has recently authored for A Second Modernism (MIT Press), The Very Quick of the Word (Sternberg Press), Sonia Almeida (MIT List Visual Arts Center), Journal for Artistic Research (forthcoming), and is editor of Edge Habitat Materials (WhiteWalls), a survey of the work of Helen Mirra. Upitis holds an A.B., summa cum laude, from Smith College, a PhD from the MIT Department of Architecture, and held a postdoctoral fellowship as Visiting Scholar in the MIT Archive of the Center for Advanced Visual Studies.
