JAIME BRETT TREADWELL
Shift Alt Delete

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 10, 5:00 – 7:00 PM

Pentimenti Gallery continues its fall season with a solo exhibition by JAIME BRETT TREADWELL.

For “Shift Alt Delete” Treadwell presents a series of fantastic, transdimensional non-objective paintings consisting of vibrant geometric patterns and forms. Each painting explores how color and design can affect visual deception, nostalgia, spatial ambiguity, and retinal stimulation. Through meticulous attention to detail and calculated color relationships, his work achieves a constantly stimulating electric vibrancy and fluorescent glow that radiates from each surface.

Treadwell says of the work, “My recent paintings lean toward a series of invented forms, which employ optical deceptions, and often bend the space between ambiguity and certainty. Adopting Op Art tenets, such as shimmering and shifting line and color, and channeling various retro-aesthetics including 80’s nostalgia, hard-edge painting, and early digital graphics, I experiment by mashing bizarre ingredients together anticipating new possibilities and unfamiliar interactions.”

Treadwell received a BA in Painting and Sculpture at the State University of New York at Cortland and received an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Treadwell’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad including New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, South Korea, Vancouver, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas, and Chicago. Publications, artist features, and interviews include Juxtapoz Magazine, Hi-Fructose Magazine, New Contemporary (Gingko Press), Blue Canvas Magazine, New American Paintings, JPEOPLE Magazine, Carne Magazine, Direct Art Magazine, Bizzarre Magazine, DVYZE Magazine, Artkolik Magazine, WOWxWOW magazine, Good Game Magazine, Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Miami New Times. His work is included in numerous corporate and private collections.
