Nathaniel Galka began his artistic career in 1994 studying at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. He received his BFA in Painting focusing in conceptual studies and from here pursued his MFA at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Nathaniel’s art is about the blurring of lines between fantasy and reality, a twilight moment in one’s mind. The work delivers that moment between daydream and realization of realities. Neither one supersedes the other or has greater value. A greater understanding is based on the perception of how the viewer first approaches and responds to the work he has created. The outright awareness of the work tells the story that is interpreted by the individual, which is solely left to their accord. The artist creates paintings that allow personalized context to exist within their own core. His work permits the viewer their own dialogue with the piece in concept and meaning. Nathaniel Galka feels that true art is not about the artist’s projection so much as it is about the viewer’s perception.
