Monique Robidoux

Presented by Pinkwater Gallery

Monique Robidoux received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Apparel Design and an MFA in Web Design New Media from the Academy of Art University. She is a prolific artist who has created watercolor landscapes and portraits on commission as well as abstract paintings and drawings utilizing pastels and aqua oils. As an artist and designer, what most informs her work is the concept of ‘taking something flat and making it into something round’. With clothing, Monique sculpts fabric into three-dimensional shapes that conform to the body. With drawing and painting she is creating a three-dimensional space on a flat surface with the use of tonality, proximity, scale, balance, contrast, and juxtaposition. Her work hangs in numerous homes around the region and has been featured in several solo and group shows in and around New York City. Her love of color is a continuous inspiration for creating various moods, whether vibrant or subtle, always seeking to make the flat surface achieve depth.
