Malgorzata Wróbel-Kruczenkow presents paintings that express the original vision of the artist, who is not afraid to experiment with form and color. The painter refers to the tradition of Polish and world art of the 20th century but does not imitate it uncritically. We find in her work echoes of Polish Colourism like Jan Cybis and Tomasz Tatarczyk, but also of Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning. In the artist’s works we can notice the influence of the tradition of Polish colorism. Exploring color is her main point of interest. The impastos she applies to the canvas give her works dynamics and expression, and at the same time allow them to maintain a certain mystery. Some of Malgorzata’s paintings are painted swiftly, as if the time for painting was irretrievably running out. They are sometimes nostalgic and at other times dramatic. They also approach the principles of American abstract expressionism and Art informel tradition of the 1940s and 1950s. Malgorzata Wróbel-Kruczenkow is a featured artist at Spectrum Gallery’s Autumn Arts Festival on the Madison Town Green.
