Water has run as major theme throughout Mags Harries’ art: its optical play, its sounds, the human need for it, its power to shape environments, as well as its familiarity. Her materials are familiar with minimal alteration, many reflect light or allow light to pass through. The art has a delicate footprint, but fills the space using light and suggestion. Harries was born in Wales. She graduated from the Leicester College of Art & Design then received her MFA at the Southern Illinois University. She is a graduate adviser and teacher at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
