Presented by C. Parker Gallery

Claude Weisbuch was born in Thionville, France in 1927. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts) in Nancy and upon graduation became a professor of engraving at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de of St. Etienne. His first solo exhibition was in 1957. The 1960’s marked the beginnings of the artist’s international recognition and major critical acclaim. As an ardent admirer of Vivaldi, Mozart, Debussy, Moliere and Machiavel, theatre and music are predominant themes. Whether it is the impassioned violinist, the mercurial actor or the movement of his muse, all of his works express his love for drama. The brushstrokes are sweeping and bold while the paint is fluid. Weisbuch paints active motifs and seeks to portray the emotions of his subjects and to evoke feelings of energy and amusement from his viewers. Weisbuch’s work is represented in various museums and numerous collections both in France and abroad. He was the winner of the prestigious “Prix de la Critique”.
