Chi Yun is an artist of uncommon meditative patience, as evidenced by her extraordinary mandala series. The skillful artistry with which she creates these paintings is echoed in her artist statement: "My art practice is a meditation on nature-abstraction, shamanism, spirituality, and metaphysics. Essential to my work is creating art forms in an organic process, allowing the subject matter to be defined by shadow and light, time of day, chance, and overall mood at the moment of discovery. Through the lens of nature I focus on the beauty of imperfections, irregularities, layers, close-ups, textures, repetition, and the sublime." Chi works as a graphic designer and lives in Lake Katrine, NY. She completed her fine arts studies at Rutgers University, followed by the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has performed and shown her work on both coasts.
