In the vein of a Circular Economy, these sculptures play with the idea of living with our trash by envisioning humans (with four arms and brightly colored nakedness) working and playing around structures made from garbage: automobile tires and plastic bottles. This isn’t an “answer” for intergenerational equity and sustainability. It’s just a vision. It’s just art. The “Millennial” generation and younger people confront the question of “can humans live on the Earth without destroying it” more urgently and starkly than older people. Every day that my generation of “Boomers” fails to nourish and empower younger generations, we hinder their capacity to work with the global damage we’ve wrought and metastasize our debt to them. charlierolson.com
