Brooke Hine
Presented by Forage Space
Brooke Hine’s installations and sculptures are inspired by found objects in a state of decay and stem from deep aquatic life qualities. It is hard and soft, beautiful and gnarly, exploratory and familiar. To elaborate on the subtle details of each porcelain piece, she includes an intricate use of stains and glazes and incorporates cat whiskers (no cats were harmed). Using repetition and light, each piece plays with shadows which defines its space and is dependent on direct light or the time of day. Living and working out of Philadelphia, Hine has shown nationally, was chosen as one of five artists to watch in Philadelphia Magazine and was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Weekly, American Style Magazine, and Studio Visit Magazine.
