Anita I Johnson, a native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied classical painting techniques under Arthur De Costa. She furthered her education by studying in Florence, Italy, and upon her return to that states, Anita relocated to New England to study under Paul Ingbreston. Under Ingbretson, she studied Boston School Impressionistic techniques, which focus on soft edges and dynamic compositions.
