Cerulean Arts is pleased to present What the Water Does, featuring recent work by Kellyann Monaghan and Sarah Roche. The artists have a long-time connection begun in art school, often painting side by side at the water’s edge, most recently on a trip to the coast of Ireland. Influenced by the urgency of the discussion of climate change, Monaghan has increasingly been focusing on dramatic weather events in her paintings and monoprints, tapping into feelings of anxiety and awe inspired by the natural world. Sharing these concerns, Roche is drawn to return to specific places that serve as touchstones. Practicing watercolor and oil, she responds to the changeable qualities of the environment. The exhibition is the result of two friends’ meditation on the elemental force of nature inherent in the power of water.

Reception: Saturday, September 29, 2-5pm
