Veil
Maple & Main Gallery
Sep. 1, 2025 - Sep. 30, 2017
CHESTER – Nancy L. Greco will unveil new work at Maple and Main’s Stone Gallery during September in a solo show she has aptly named, “Veil.”
The works explore “the exploration of the blessing and curse of self-awareness,” explains Nancy, who is an internationally known artist living in Canton.
Greco’s month-long exhibit features recent oil paintings and pencil drawings of familiar objects set in imaginary theaters where dream figures and archetypes tug at the viewer’s visual expectations – literally lifting the viewer’s veil of logic and sense.
“We are constantly in transition, constantly peeking behind veils –experiencing the jolt of loss or the celebration of gain,” says Nancy who heightens the sense of transition by inserting doors and windows in unlikely places in her compositions. She magnifies this sense by fading the edges of her sharply rendered objects into cloud-like texture or even blank space.
The winner of numerous awards, Nancy is also the recipient of grants from the Ford Foundation and from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
The show runs through Sept. 30.
