Characters from the Star Wars™ universe will be brought to life in Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume at the Denver Art Museum. The dramatic presentation will examine the costume design process by featuring more than 70 original costumes from all seven films, as well as cultural and historic interpretations by Smithsonian scholars and interactive encounters with concept artists and costume designers. Explore the artistry of iconic costumes and their famous characters including Darth Vader, Queen Amidala, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2.

The exhibition travels beyond the chronological, literary or filmic order of the films to highlight the creative processes of George Lucas’ artistic vision and the exciting challenge of translating his characters into a dynamic reality.

Star Wars and the Power of Costume is on view on level 2 of the Hamilton Building from November 13, 2016, through April 2, 2017. Purchase tickets online or by calling 720-913-0130. For more information about the exhibition and related programming and lectures, please visit denverartmuseum.org.

The exhibition was developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in partnership with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and in consultation with Lucasfilm Ltd.
