SUMMARY:
Gallery Route One presents its Annual Artist Members’ Exhibition, “Resilience,”
featuring work by twenty-one member artists working in a diverse range of media including painting, printmaking, artists’ books, drawing, photography, mixed media and sculpture

**************************************************************************Exhibiting artwork in a diverse range of media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media and sculpture, Gallery Route One is pleased to present the 2020 Annual Artist Members’ Exhibition. Featuring an engaging collection of work by all twenty-one member artists, this exhibit represents the vibrant expression of a long tradition of themed group shows that inspire the entire community. This contribution is realized again in the current year’s members’ exhibit, “Resilience.”

Deeply relevant to the problems of our current times, resilience can be described as the capacity to negotiate adversity and to ultimately discover renewal, both through the maintenance of belief and the engagement of personal practice, or in this context, the practice of the artist working through the many challenges of 2020. Besides addressing the myriad social, political and environmental concerns that surround us, the exhibition demonstrates a profound commitment to the creative process as practiced by each of Gallery Route One’s participating artist members, including three of the founding members as well as the two new Fellows in the GRO Artist Fellowship Program.

Gallery Route One was founded in 1983 by twenty-five regional artists who consolidated their diverse artmaking talents into an enduring organization which has long offered a variety of innovative programs and shows. In the spirit which has characterized the gallery’s identity as a collaborative organization of artists for thirty-seven years, the 2020 Annual Members’ Exhibition sensitively embraces the collective need for discerning the path to resilience, and at the same time fosters a mutual condition of support and ongoing solidarity within its community of artists.

Across a broad spectrum of media, the exhibit includes artwork by Mimi Abers, Charles Anselmo, Austin Buckingham, Annie Duncan, Mary Mountcastle Eubank, Joe Fox, Tim Graveson, Jenny-Lynn Hall, Steven Hurwitz, Betsy Kellas, Marie-Luise Klotz, Diana Marto, Bruce Mitchell, Zea Morvitz, Shannon O’Neill-Creighton, Steve Pring, Igor Sazevich, Bernie Schimbke, Will Thoms, Vickisa, and Xander Weaver-Scull.

**************************************************************************A regional landmark since 1983, Gallery Route One is an arts organization located in the town of Point Reyes Station, adjacent to the entry for Marin County’s Point Reyes National Seashore. Besides offering rotating exhibits by member artists, GRO also maintains its outreach programs: the Latino Photography Project, the Artists in the Schools Program, as well as exhibitions in the Project Space addressing environmental, immigration and social justice issues.
