Two longtime artists realign themselves with their artistic roots: Robert Bienstock’s abstract art focuses on space-filling linear patterns and their intersections. Bienstock observes that such patterns abound in the world around us and reside within our memories and thoughts. His work aims to trigger resonances with the viewer’s lived experiences. Utilizing both gestural and contour line techniques, Kate Henderson interprets components of the natural world and creates an imaginary realm of passages. “The process of creating work for Realignment, has been truly transformative. What began as a studio exercise in drawing more from life this year, a departure from my usual nature-based abstractions has suddenly brought me full circle back into a style and thinking about abstract forms that started in college. There is a complexity and purity about it I am enjoying.”
