Passportraits of Tales & Travels is an international collection of oil paintings of local people, animals, and landscapes created between 2015 and 2020. Joshua Lance’s paintings in this series boldly suggest that every subject has emotional value, integrity, and poetic intensity. He admires and aspires to these qualities. As a result, his artwork is autobiographical and emotionally raw in its nature. Art has stories meant to be told. It is Josh’s favoured language because it’s universally understood. Great stories are submerged under the layers of paint, just waiting to emerge to the surface. Despite feeling emotions of hopelessness, fear, and homesickness, the act of creating these paintings inspires therapeutic effects welcoming positive emotions such as happiness and euphoria.
