Jim Bensman has an instinctive gift for capturing the essence of a place in the moment. Like visual meditations, they suspend these instants for us to appreciate and contemplate. The calm and natural atmosphere of his works, whatever the subject, evoke a sense of intense familiarity and generosity which openly welcomes and envelopes their audience rather than arouse and distance the viewer.
In Memory of Place, Jim Bensman has ventured into working on a larger scale. The result, when paired with his tranquil and sure style, is works one wants to happily get lost in.
