BOSTON, MA – Beginning April 4th, Fountain Street gallery will be exhibiting Identity, featuring the work of Sorin Bica and Stephen Martin. The show highlights a variety of each artist’s work, including painting, assemblage and sculpture. Identity is who we are, what we say and what we do, how we look and how we act. Drawn from real, simple everyday events and from sociopolitical frustrations, this exhibit is a glimpse into our daily stories.

Sorin Bica’s oil paintings color and light evocative of his interaction with the balance between polar reactions and complexities of life. People’s expressions fascinate him, and he seeks to render emotion rather than realistic portraiture. He incorporates with vibrancy, evolution, and movement. Bica is a contemporary artist based in the Boston area, frequently sought for his unique large-scale abstract and figurative paintings. The use of intense color and expressive figures could be seen throughout his work. Bica exhibits his work widely throughout Massachusetts, and is a Core Member at Fountain Gallery.

Stephen Martin is a mixed media artist and sculptor who works primarily with antique photos and found objects to fashion unique human stories. His work is, both literally and figuratively about reclamation; while he incorporates found objects to form the “ground” of the pieces, the figurative element is of primary importance. Martin’s work has been exhibited widely, and is included in corporate and individual collections in the US and Europe. He works from his studio on the North Shore.

Identity will run from April 4 – 29, 2018. The Gallery is located at 460c Harrison Ave. #2, Boston, MA and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 to 6pm, or by appointment.
