The Gallery on the Green Annual Holiday Show and Sale plus two solo shows are on display from November 17 to December 17. The Festive Holiday Reception is on Saturday, November 18th and the Holiday Party is on Saturday December 16th. Both events are from 6 to 9 pm and the public is warmly invited. The show has holiday gift items by guild artists and invited guests that include fine arts plus a beautiful selection of hand-turned wood, ceramics, jewelry, knitted wear and crafts. You will find presents that are truly special because of the unique craftsmanship and artistry that goes into each. You can get gift wrapping and take the items at the time of purchase.

In her solo show entitled, “Birches, Birds and Butterflies,” photographer Lynne Anstett captures the beauty of outdoor scenery in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Her Art Poster Calendars are sold in artisan shops, bookstores and museums, and her work has been in many regional juried exhibitions. In 2017 Anstett was in a juried exhibition where sales benefited the Norman Rockwell Museum. She is the author of “Love Bound, The Journey — Original Poetry and Photography.”

Paul Baylock’s solo show, “Popular Science Series,” was inspired by 1950s and 1960s science magazine advertisements. In a style combining Pop Art and hard-edged abstraction, he takes multiple computer images printed onto vinyl stencils and assembles them on plywood. These are then painted with shapes and stripes and partially distressed with belt sanding. Currently president of the Art League of New Britain, Baylock graduated from Hartford Art School and had further study at CCSU. He was recently awarded Best in Show at the West Hartford Art League’s CT +6 Juried Show. In the spring he will be the New Now artist at the New Britain Museum of American Art.

The Canton Artists’ Guild at the Gallery on the Green, the longest continuously-running artist guild in the state, has 3 separate galleries and hosts 9 month-long exhibitions each year. The gallery is located near the intersection of Dowd Avenue and Route 44 at 5 Canton Green Road in Canton. Hours are Friday – Sunday, 1-5 pm.
