…following quote taken from the Anchorage Art Museum website. “Alaska’s Cook Inlet has been the home to the Dena’ina people for over 1,000 years. Dena’ina fish camps at one time prominent on the Cook Inlet just a short distance from downtown Anchorage. Few Alaskans realize that they live in traditional Dena’ina territory, originally the largest Indian territory of Anchorage.
This exhibition sets out to change our understanding of the Dena’ina people. The exhibition will feature about 200 objects, including important early pieces from European museums—sinew-backed bows, arrows fetched with hawk feathers, caribou skin clothing adorned with woven quill work, antler war clubs, beaded bags, birch baskets and many others.”
