The exhibition will be presented the East Gallery at The Loft Artists Gallery, 575 Pacific Street, Stamford, CT. The show will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from October 24th through November 22nd. There will be a reception, open to the public on Saturday, October 24th, from 5 to 8 PM. Altesor describes the project “As a historical review of the key moments that led to the birth of Candombe, a musical rhythm born in Uruguay with strong African roots. On a journey from Africa to “Las llamadas” (drum parade) in Montevideo, each work reflects moments and feelings that were then the foundation of Candombe music”. Altesor’s goal is to diffuse the history of Candombe and its rhythm to you.
In addition to this exhibition, the Loft Artists West Gallery will be featuring the works of Claudio Altesor, Margot Bittenbender, Lucienne Buckner, Oksana Tanasiv and Pierrette Wagner in a group show entitled “A Mix of Five” .
