The Lyme Art Association invites you to its historic galleries for “All the World’s a Stage”. Shakespeare’s famous quote from “As You Like It” is the inspiration for this exhibition, which focuses on places outside of familiar New England. Lyme Art Association member artists visually interpreted this travel-themed show with landscape and still life artworks.

Running concurrently is the return of “An Exhibition in Four Acts”, which showcases the assorted styles of its talented artists. Each juried show looks at the world through a different lens. Whether it is dawn’s gentle glow, midday’s intense brilliance, a sunset’s warm hues, or ethereal moonlight, Phases of Light celebrates the beauty of light. Member artists delve into the interplay between shadow and light to capture the essence of illumination. Rock of Ages examines the geological beauty of the earth, focusing on the rocks and stones that define the foundation of a landscape. Stillness: A Still Life is an introspection into the world of still life. The painter Giorgio Morandi states that “[t]o achieve understanding it is necessary not to see many things, but to look hard at what you do see.” In moments of chaos, the quiet beauty of art can function as a temporary pause for both artists and viewers. And lastly, Strictly Abstract focuses on the abstractions of life and nonobjective art making.

All shows are on view March 1 – April 11. Opening Reception for the both shows is Sunday, March 3 from 2 – 4 pm.
