Foundry Art Centre
Mar. 20, 2020, 05:30 pm
“Voting Daughters” will open with a grand reception on Friday, March 20th, 2020, from 5:30-8pm in the Main Gallery and Grand Hall. This exhibition calls on artists, regardless of their gender identity, to comment on the ways women’s voices affect our contemporary landscape. The exhibition will be on display from March 20th to May 1st, 2020. Three prizes will be awarded at the Opening Reception: two Juror’s Choice Awards of $150, and a Going Solo Award that offers the recipient a solo exhibition in one of our galleries.
Judith Mayer will serve as juror for this exhibition. Judith is an illustrator working in Chicago whose work has been published in over 35 books, born and raised in the Midwest and the daughter of immigrants, teaching traditional calligraphy at Lillstreet Art Center and currently serving as Vice President of Marketing for South Shore Arts. Most recently, Judith is one of the 36 woman artists participating in the “Her Flag” nationwide art project created by Marilyn Artus. “Her Flag” celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, whereby an artist from each of the 36 ratifying states creates a stripe for an 18 x 26 foot flag. Judith is representing Illinois in the collaborative project. To learn more about this call for entry, please visit www.foundryartcentre.org.
