Turnout is an exhibition timed to coincide with this year’s mid-term election. The phrase “turnout” refers to the historically low voter turnout in 2016’s presidential elections, and the hope that we’ll do better this year. It also refers to the act of turning out a naughty child’s pockets or turning an unwanted guest out of the house.

The artwork included in Turnout addresses current political issues that are relevant to the mid-term elections such as identity politics and civil rights, environmental protections, access to/sale of public lands, immigration, healthcare, separation of church and state, the military industrial complex/foreign policy.

Featuring the work of 14 talented Idaho artists, this show will run from 11/05 to 11/30 with an open house held on Election Day (11/06) in addition to our regular Third Thursday reception (11/15) both to occur from 6-9pm at the Gem. Beer and wine will be available in addition to light refreshments.
