Dave Hilton began the current museim in 1938 in the basement of the old library. In January 1971, the town set aside a room in the courthouse basement for the original art collection. The first opening of the Crook County Museum & Art Gallery was April 1971.

The art gallery focuses on local art, pottery and custom jewelry. Featured are local artists Allison L Bush Forsberg (custom jewelry), John Werbelow (decorative & functional pottery), Rose Miller Designs (custom jewelry), Susan Scheirbeck (art) and Sonja Taylor (watercolors and more!).
