Joy Factory Gallery / Cinema celebrates diversity in the arts and the Arthouse Cinema movement with “STAY PECULIAR,” The Tim Burton Fan Art & Tribute exhibition plus a pre-release screening of the outrageous film festival favorite , THE LURE . The exhibition is a jointly curated by Thumbprint, a contemporary art gallery in La Jolla with a focus on urban art and pop surrealism.

Filmmaker Tim Burton supports Joy Factory’s mission and lends his name to this inclusive group show featuring Fan Artwork and prints for sale by over 25 US artists with and without disabilities. Fans can also look forward to seeing some unique Burton movie memorabilia. Says Burton: “The goal of Joy Factory Gallery/Cinema is smart, simple and effective. It gives artists living with disabilities materials to create exhibit and advance their artistry. This provides opportunities in the arts for young people living with disabilities.”

Family friendly Gallery Hours on Saturday, January 28 are from 12-5PM and free to all , followed by an Artists Reception from 5-7PM with DJ and Cash Bar . The evening concludes with a screening at 8PM of THE LURE, a musical/horror/fairytale directed by first-time filmmaker and confessed Tim Burton fan, Agnieszka Smocynzka. THE LURE premiered at the Sundance Film Festival where it won an award for “Unique Vision” and has just been acquired by Janus Films. Joy Factory Gallery/Cinema, a nonprofit Visual Arts Center that pairs art and movies, seeks to support and advance the careers of exceptional artists with cognitive and developmental disabilities and to provide employment in its studio/gallery/cinema for emerging adults. Founded in 2015 by industry veteran and former agent Bobbi Thompson, this is the third Pop Up Art & Movie Show as Joy Factory raises funds for a dedicated space. Bobbi Thompson is known for nurturing the careers of James Cameron, Tim Burton, Ang Lee, Gus van Sant and Trey Parker and for championing the films of maverick talents like Robert Altman , Stephan Elliott, and John Cameron Mitchell.
“I am excited to bring all the moving parts of Joy Factory Gallery/Cinema to Hollywood,” says Thompson, “to bring Thumbprint Gallery to LA and I am really excited to continue to present radical cinema and art by some of the most extraordinary creative minds today. “
