Making a Fresh start with Art on
the 11th South Coast Artists Studio Tour

South Coast Artists is taking a Fresh approach to art this summer, with its 11th consecutive Open Studio Tours on the weekends of July 19-20 and August 16-17 (11 am-5 pm). It’s that rare opportunity to connect artists in their working studios, with art lovers from all over New England.
The annual SCA Tour has become well known throughout the East Coast, and is seen as the cultural highlight for this beautiful coastal region of New England. The tour showcases the visionary works of 70 artists living and working in the seacoast communities of Tiverton and Little Compton, RI, and Dartmouth and Westport, MA.
The theme of this year’s tour is Fresh Art where artists are challenged to think of new works that expand their concept of originality. This Fresh way of thinking is what art is all about as artists search for different way of looking at their art. Their wholly original expressions can be seen on those two weekends, right in the artists’ studios. Many artists will also be demonstrating their craft. The tour includes artists exhibiting in a variety of mediums, including painting, encaustic, pastel, watercolor, photography, sculpture, wood, metal, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, basketry, and even shell work.
The tour is very accessible, thanks to an easy-to-read brochure and map, available at many local businesses and also online at SCA’s website – www.southcoastartists.org. The brochure and map can be downloaded. The self-guided tour will have you traveling down small highways and rural byways, accented with breathtaking coastal views.

South Coast Artists is a non-profit organization comprised of nationally-known and emerging artists, all with a passionate interest in art education and artists working in this region. SCA provides a comprehensive online directory, enhanced artist resources, and related events for the community. WGBH Boston, Cardi’s Furniture, Artscope and Art New England are major sponsors of this creative initiative, along with many other regional and local businesses and art patrons.
