“Sonoran Shades” Exhibit Opening Reception
Herberger Theater Center
Aug. 4, 2017, 05:30 pm
The Herberger Theater Center (HTC), located at 222 E. Monroe in downtown Phoenix, invites the public to the free opening reception for Sonoran Shades, an exhibit of paintings by Robert P. Meyer, on First Friday, August 4, 5:30-7:00pm. Meet the artist, enjoy live music by Nick Heward and no-host bar in Bob’s Spot Lounge.
Sonoran Shades is an exploration of shades of color in the desert southwest. Robert draws and paints the spectrum as he sees it, bright and big. How do you see color in your world?
Meyer began drawing at an early age and has always been inspired by the landscapes around him. After graduating from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing, and raising a family with his wife, he opened a design business in Tempe. Meyer incorporates many of the shapes and colors that exist in the desert Southwest flora around him, even in his own backyard.
Curated by Carrie Meyer, the artwork is on display and available for purchase through August 29. A portion of each sale benefits the HTC’s Youth Outreach Programs. Sponsored by Billie Jo and Judd Herberger, the Herberger Theater Gallery is a self-funded exhibition program that promotes contemporary art by Arizona artists. Gallery hours are weekdays, 10:00am-5:00pm, during performances and by appointment. To preview the exhibit, visit HerbergerTheater.org/art-gallery/
Park for $6 at the Arizona Center (Fillmore/Fifth Street) weekdays after 5pm. Purchase validation at the Herberger Theater Box Office before the reception. For information, contact Laurene Austin at 602-254-7399, Ext. 105 or [email protected].
