Working in Paris as a prominent printmaker, illustrator, and poster designer Henri-Gabriel Ibels (1867-1936) created a significant body of work.
Like Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who was a close friend, Ibels would featured performers from the theater, café-concert, and circus in his compositions. Beginning with line drawings he would define their gestures using his signature style and color. Prints, drawings, pastels, posters, and books illustrated by Ibels are featured in this special presentation.
