The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art presents NAOYA HATAKEYAMA Natural Stories.

Naoya Hatakeyama is one of Japan’s most popular photographers, known for simplistic subjects on large-scale pictures that capture the extraordinary power of nature. After the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, Hatakeyama captures the human element that was forced to deal with nature in its rawness.

It offers insights into factories, quarries, mines, or his tsunami-swept hometown in northeastern Japan that coexist with nature through every day events.
